Motorcraft Mustang Trans-Am
Revell made a kit of this car, and I’ve always thought it was a great-looking race car. Since it’s still readily available I thought I use it as a featured car from last weekend’s Daytona Classic 24.
Jaguar Lightweight E-Type Low Drag Coupe
For me, this was the highlight of the event. The guys caring for the car in the paddock said it was an original, just brought over from Europe in the last month or so. I’ve always wanted to see one of these cars, and have a 1/43 kit as well as good intentions to one day convert the 1/25 Monogram kit to this car.
Matra Sports Prototype
I believe this is a 1968 Matra MS630. Sort of a unique car, so I decided to split it out from the general photos of the Daytona Classic 24. Sort of reminds me of a GT40 from the rear when the bonnet is removed. I don’t know of anyone that makes a model of this car.
Daytona Classic 24 – Track Shots
Various cars on the track on Saturday and Sunday, including Saturday night. Some were shot through the fence, but it’s not too distracting. There are a few of the night shots that I’m very pleased with, considering I wasn’t using a flash and had to increase the film speed and reduce the shutter speed.
Daytona Classic 24 – Sunday
By Sunday things were winding down. There were still cars on the track, but as the various classes finished their races the crews started putting things away, draining fuel, and getting the cars into the trailers. Highlights of this group are some additional shots of Lola T-70’s, some detail photos of the 917/10, some detail of a Monza, and a whole bunch of general shots of the paddock and cars.
Daytona Classic 24 – Saturday (Night)
As the day turned to night the paddock got quieter, and there were fewer spectators. So there was ample opportunity for photos, and the primary light source being the paddock lighting made for some interesting photos. This group of images includes some wide-angle shots of the paddock area, grandstands, and garages – they might make some good backdrops for model photography.
